Wasps, Mozzies Moths and other al fresco pests

Afternooon BBQ or out door evening party, whats the best way of keeping the bugs at bay?There are a lot of gizmoes on the market, there are things that zap, things that humm and things that pong, but are any of them truely effective? Do those wasp bottles really work, or do they just attract more wasps from a larger range.Any sugestions?

    I use citronella candels and they seem to work, also the waspinator is ment to be good at detering wasps. Im not sure quite how good it is though!

    Some bugs like Moths & Wasps navigate by light and sugar smell so keep the brightest light away from the guests and mop up sugary spills.
    Wasp bottles work but only after the Queens have left the nest. Prior to that, the workers are more meat fixared and will turn up at meat and fish trying to get a bite.
    Mozzies, midges etc seem to follow CO2 emissions so Deet or smoke confuses them, they say citrus candles work, but I havent tested them.

    I had a stint selling them at the Ideal home show in 2008. We sold quite a few.

    The facts and figures I got given were impressive, that's Why I was dubois on their effectiveness.
