I have the same problem,
not all insect stings react the same just some. I always take 2 antihistamines as soon as I can after being stung. Got stung on the top of my head the first time I found out about my reaction and my right eye closed up completely with the swelling, I looked like the elephant man for a couple of days and couldn't work.
I always carry antihistamines in the van now and if I've run out I leave the customers garden immediately to go get some after explaining why to the customer. I can't afford to lose days of trade due to a silly sting. It's generally fine if you get the antihistamines in your system quick enough there's just some minor swelling and not the elephantisis type swelling you get if left untreated.
looks nasty, i got stung on the eye lid a few years ago swelled up a bit but nowt like that, got stung once this year so far by a bumble bee, have come across a lot of wasp nest in the last fortnight one was like a rugby ball, always carry antihistamine cream and wasp killer
