The bloke should have been cautioned for excessive force - But put on trial - waste of my tax money... Those two pieces of **** deserved everything they got - and punishing someone defending their Livelihood AND property will only bolden human scum like these knowing they will get a slap on the wrists and their victim could go to prison, so will not defend their property.
A job well done, ironically you'll probably find he'll be claiming some sort of disability benefit now he's in crutches.
It's tricky to judge situations like this. His intent seems to have been to chase and detain so the police could nick them, not to kill or seriously injure. When doing this, you HAVE to dominate the other guy and use more force than he does, otherwise he might beat the tar out of you - very different headline in that case.
The two thieves needed stronger sentences, and the owner (at most) should just be cautioned.
Good news!

Great to see the "Justice" support the Victim. Hope it sends a clear message.
This is great news just a shame the fine was very low!
I think the police were probably right to press charges given the injuries but shocked that the CPS didn't kick this out. A police caution for excessive force wouldn't of been the right action to take.
Lets hope that these and the 1,000's of other scum bags will think twice in future. Unfortunately round our way, more and more vans are bing turned over and no one sees anything and the police don't have a clue as to who is doing it!
The CPS are at fault here, the fact that the jury took just 20 minutes to deliver verdict speaks volumes for how the wider public feel.
To be fair, the git with the broken legs and arms looks like a falling feather would snap him in two - probably because of an aversion to daylight and vegetables.
Nice result
The Jury so scene, happen had there own sheds turned over a time or two
