Warning Stihl

I got a nasty surprise & a cut finger

Something has come out of the casing & it's very sharp.  So disappointing as I had the previous cutter for 15 years of commercial use & no problems. This one has only had a few years of very light use.  Clearly Stihl aren't what they used to be.

  • Sue them!!    Has the thing been apart recently.......... looks like part of the "thrust plate" though how it could be pushed through a properly tightened down joint is a mystery...... wouldn't have thought it possible to be honest.

    • Nor would I & no it's never been opened.  I have a further problem in that I am in Ireland where Stihl use an intermediary.  I will have to repair it myself when I can find somewhere to get the parts.

I would love a parts diagram if anyone has one.

I would also love Stihl's opinion but I can't see a way to PM them.

If you go to Stihl's website, there is a 'Contact' hotlink top r/h side of home screen.

You can then contact Customer Services....I suspect there's something more to this but steaming in to Sue them is not probably the best opening gambit !...

We've used it many times and they are generally quite responsive if you approach them as a professional contractor.
