i went to a viking demo the other week they do not do a roller model with a blade brake which is what i was after they seemed to pick up OK it was long grass but not wet i had a go with the pro models but got the impression they were more suitable for commercial contractors rather than for domestic laws also the drive system is having problems according to the grapevine
I have the MB545VR roller model. It is fantastic in the wet. It completely fills the grassbox (and I mean completely) and being a roller model it doesn't leave tramlines on wet ground and you can skim over edges.
Downsides:
The vibes are high which would rule it out of a mowing round. I only do lawns as part of complete garden maintenance so the mowing portion of my work is relatively small.
Minor points:
The grassbox is plastic which takes up more room than a fabric bag when stored.
I sometimes wish there was another height setting between 2 and 3. For a fortnightly mow, 3 means the lawn is a bit long by the next visit but 2 means it is initially a bit short.
I have had two mb655vr's and in my opinion they are THE best at picking up long wet grass. Always a full box and never jams up. However the rear drive is very delicate and not really suitable for daily hard use.
Is that even with the pro models ???? delicate drive ???
I was looking at the MB 755 ks.
they dont do a pro roller so no good for me. i assume drive problem would just be the roller models.
Viking have just repaired mine under warranty - broke within 3 months!
yeah i'm not after a roller, i want something that can chug through wet grass half decently, and pick up........this constant rain is a knightmare !!!!!!!!
£2500 for an Etesia /
What model are you trying to do a like for like with?
We bought a 755 at the begging of this season.great mower, used the standard blade for about two weeks, fills the bag to the brim. have been using mulch blades and it does a really good job.Dont confuse the 755 pro mower with the other viking mowers, its in a totally different class
Could always look for a good second hand item to cut your teeth on....
The Pro 46 will cut and collect almost as quickly as you can jog with it with almost any length of grass. Even better with the speed up kit which should be fitted as standard!
