There's been much publicity regarding the huge increases due to increased risks, payout awards and increase in IPT, so not unexpected.
However loyalty rarely pays and we find massive benefits of having all vehicles dealt with a good Broker, who often beat the online comparison websites (look deep on these sites and you see they are no independent or truly offering full range of insurers).
We have to insure 7 vehicles and it hits the pocket hard no matter what. I've just re-insured two vehicles this month and seen ~30-40% rise even after negotiating hard :(
Wow, perhaps I'll have to go into town and find a friendly broker. Thanks Gary

Its a common trick the insurers use........... bumping the premiums up exorbitantly, hoping the customer won't notice and in a lot of cases, they don't or can'tbe bothered to shop around. Its always worth getting some more quotes when your renewal is due, particularly when the premium goes up like this.
We are with Aviva. I downloaded the Aviva driving app and scored a miraculous 9.5/10 giving us an additional 28% discount on the first vehicle. Unfortunately the first vehicle on our multi-vehicle policy is my 03 plate L200 and not our 16 plate Transporter. Still saved some dosh though.
Tell more :) How does that work in practice ?
You download the app on your phone and drive like a granny for 200 miles. It uses the accelerometer in your phone to monitor your braking, cornering and acceleration and gives you a score once you've hit 200 miles.
I think it has to be within a certain time frame of your renewal being due.
p.s I'm the main driver on both vehicles because we don't use both vehicles every day and I usually drive.
Yes, I had to start again with the pickup.
