The above is very pertinent. Earlier this year I complained bitterly about the cost of our vehicle insurance with the NFU. A couple of months ago we had a vehicle stolen from a site while the lads were within metres of it. An eastern European gentleman just hopped in and drove off with the sides hanging down and a pallet of bricks flying all over the road. (Sidenote for everyone, this is VERY common now - NEVER leave your keys in a vehicle no matter where it is.) Anyway as already stated the keys were in it because the guy had just got out of it. The NFU paid up. OK they sent me a letter saying that they wouldn't if the same thing happened in the future but on this occasion they paid up. Now a cheaper insurance company wouldn't have done - in fact most insurance companies wouldn't, and I would have been eight thousand pounds lighter. That's a lot of money...I suspect enough to put many small traders out of business.
So Dan's right - cheap isn't always best!
