I think you will struggle finding a small van for that.
The tipper will weigh the best part of a tonne empty leaving very little payload if you only want to tow 2-2.5.
You really need the horsepower and torque a bigger engine will bring you. I'd not go below 130hp for towing.
My navara has 190 and you know when you are pulling 2.5 tonne with that.
    • Trailer only 750 Kg and only ever have about 1200kg in it. So even if van can pull 2 tonne.

Fair enough must be fairly small tipper.
I still say you need power though trying to save a few quid to then blow your small van up would be stupid imo

Most medium vans (i.e. traffic) can two two tonnes. But really you want one rated to tow more than that and then have the van have an easier time of it. Something with RWD would be more choice. I've said it before on here but an Iveco Daily SWB is ideal for that.

  • I've got a transit T300, and it's only 85bhp on paper, FWD, but it tows 2t quite easily. I'd be happy using it at that weight for decent distances.

    It's a superb van actually.

    • Cheers Dan, Transit seem to be best out there for towing cheers
