I'd try and do the visit at quiet times, early mornings for example. Otherwise just use your standard products taking into consideration the usual precautions.
Hi Michael
Like Dan says, do early mornings when no one is around and also maybe look at using 'clean labelled' products such as Roundup as they are deemed to be 'safer'.
If you want any more advice or to just chat about your options, give me a call or drop me a line.
cheers Ollie

As above : Look for the best 'low key' solution, including the correct product applied the correct way.
Generate a simple managament plan and lodge it with your client, then make sure you follow it.
Use the right gear, opting for least obvious blue/green chemical suits and use a professional sprayer with correctly calibrated nozzle(s).
If necessary, create an exclusion zone and/or use signage.
Monsanto provide a good A5 Public information card you can duplictae and provide to any members of the public that ask (which they have a right do so).
The public can report you ( I think the local Env Health Officier takes front line calls). Remember it is easy now for the public to record your actions on a smartphone etc.
Ensure you DO keep accurate Pseticide Application Records in case someone comes after you.
Potentionally a lot of hassle, but do the right thing at the best time and you'll be fine.
