Using technology in the garden

The RHS has released an iPhone App to help novice gardeners plan their gardening. The app will: * Choose vegetables and fruit for your garden based on key criteria (space/time/expertise) * Access expert RHS advice about your chosen fruit/veg, including what to do and when, recommended varieties and common problems * Link to the RHS plants site to buy quality plants * Link to the RHS Grow Your Own forum, to ask questions, advice and chat to fellow gardeners Coming features include: * Track progress of your fruit and veg with a calendar function with real-time reminders and weather warnings * Compare results, send messages to and ask advice from other registered RHS Grow Your Own app users in your area A couple of questions come to mind: Will technology take the trial and error fun and experience out of gardening...surely, making mistakes are all part of the fun? Will hand held apps, whilst fun, lead to wasted time in the garden?
