US firm TruGreen fined for missapplication of pesticides, poor record keeping and employing untrained and uncertified workers

US company TruGreen has been fined $500,000 for pesticide violations after an investigation by the state Department of Environmental Conservation. TruGreen have been handed the fine for misapplying pesticides, keeping inaccurate records and using uncertified or untrained workers, reports timesunion.com. It is the second fine for the Tennessee-based company - they were fined $600,000 in 1999 for 35 breaches of pesticide laws between 1994 and 1999. "Numerous invoices for lawn care contracts from 2007, 2008 and 2009 failed to provide the equired information or provided inaccurate information." Is it time the United Kingdom was exposed to the same strict environmental controls for lawn treatment applications?
