Turf - North West area

I recently carried out my first turfig job of the year and was alarmed at the quality of turf.

Ive always used the same supplier who generally sources his turf from York. Apparently they have restricted their turf supplies at the moment as they simply cannot keep up with demand and the root system isnt ready for lifting as yet.

He supplies large quantities of turf and is now using turf sourced from Southport ( which is what I used) but this is barely ready for lifting too and had to be handled "with care."

It would seem the large volume of house building and possibly last years dry Summer has had an impact on the "turf cycle."

Has anyone else had problems?? If not, who are you using??

  • Junction 4 M58, place called Aughton. Or North West Turf in Farnwoth, Bolton.

    Both good.

    • Have you used them this year yet?

      • I haven't, no. Both been good whenever I have.

  • I haven’t had any since November but I always use Lindow Turf, not sure whereabouts you are in the northwest as it is a large area.

  • Problems here - York - so I’m told

  • Try Trophy Lawn Turf in Irlam, Manchester.
