Toro Timemaster brake arm problem

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with their Toro Timemaster.

I took a short video (YouTube link below) of what's happening when the blade lever is engaged. The brake arm is shaking around like mad. It still cuts, but struggles if the grass is at all long.

Also the belt seems to be resting on the brake arm which I think is contributing to the fact that I'm changing belts every few months.

I wonder if a new brake arm assembly might fix it.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Also I'm having to use a cable clamp on the blade cable as the nut which holds the cable in place has failed. I think the thread is stripped, so I may have to retap and replace with an M10

Many thanks

Andrew

  • not familiar with toro but somthing is out of line have you checked the drive pully as the belt is hitting the brake arm and dosnot seem to be square

Mine did a similar thing and it was a bearing on the pully that had gone.

  • Thanks for your replies, I'll see if I can get the pulley off at the weekend. Hopefully if it is the bearing I can just replace that, but I've got a feeling I'll need to buy the whole assembly.
