Topiary pictures and a recommendation

I am posting these pictures on here because I didn't want my recommendation to be lost on my wall. I've just spent the last 16 days pruning all the yew and box topiary at work by hand and I've used a pair of Okatsuna long handled shears from Niwaki.com. I have no affiliation with these guys but they have been brilliant. I ordered the shears on Friday afternoon and they were there on Monday morning ready to use. I honestly can't recommend them enough, they remained sharp throughout the job, I only had to hone them and for any of you who need to hand cut specialist hedges or topiary these are the best you can find, trust me!

  • Wow!

Is it now 16 days collecting the clippings? :-)

  • can i ask why you did it all by hand and not use a hedge cutter which would have been a lot faster though it dos not look bad for hand shears
i do a lot of topiary i mainly use sharp hedge cutter and sometimes finish things off with shears such as spirals and animals

Do you now have tennis elbow?

  • I'm not gonna lie, my arms and shoulders are burning and I've had an arthritis flare up but we chose to do it by hand because the client, my boss, wanted to get them sharper, as perfect as we could and I have to say, for the health of the plants doing it with a razor sharp pair if blue steel shears is far better than using anything mechanical. We had the time, why not do it? I did use a Pellenc hedge trimmer for the long runs of yew hedging, it was pretty good but the yew and box has never looked as good as it does now. I however am absolutely spent!
