I wouldn't bother with a pick up tipper, they only hold 800-900kg. Why not look at a swb tipper, size wise wont be much different and if you get a transit t350 they can carry over a tonne. Iv got a lwn transit dropside and wouldn't be without it. Just about to purchase either an escort van (only because I like them) or a connect to ferry the tools around when the transit isn't needed.
it's worth considering going out beteen Xmas and New year to have a look at few I've been eyeing up

Hi
my 'two pennies worth' ...
A mate of mine runs landrover tippers and has spent many years trying to convert me as they "look the part". We run a transit dropside and a Partner van. My argument against Landrovers is they cost a lot to buy, I don't think they are economical and have no storage space (without adding lots of boxes). You have no underseat storage or behind seat and if adding a tool store on the back you lose what little space you have. Don't think I dislike landrovers, I am a big fan and have a series 2a with a cherrypicker on.
We use the little van wherever possible, economy, ease of parking in the city and all tools are out of site. The transit is older and very basic but is invaluable for load carrying, chipping into and has a tool store behind the cab. the tool store is 18" wide and the body is 8ft long.
I choose a non tipper as it is much lower to lift onto.
I have by no means solved the 'ideal vehicle problem' but I think this is a good compromise.
On the subject of ideal vehicle I came up with a plan many years ago and called it the Thunderbirds system. One chassis cab with a tipper body, a luton body with tailift and a cherry picker body all demountable !!!!
