Timber preservative for raised veggie beds.

Has anyone come across a timber preservative that is safe to use on raised vegetable beds ?I'm building a raised bed vegetable garden using recycled scaffold boards and I've not come across anything that doesn't have to potential to leach out into the surrounding soil. One option I guess would be to back the boards with compost bags or simular ?James
