Thirty years of work hacked to pieces

So sad to see this article in The Guardian about how vandals broke into Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens and decapitated rare cacti, some of which were 30 years old.

I can not understand why anyone would even think of doing this, never mind actually go to the effort of breaking in and then chopping the plants down.

Would be terribly sad if that was the case, will keep my eyes open to see if the police do capture those responsible and will update the piece.
