Be informal and friendly with your contacts. They are engaging with a grounds maintenance company, not buying some double glazing.
The main issue is price. We were way over on our first attempts at quoting as we were looking at it on the same basis as domestic gardening but just bigger. Our price was double the going rate but got the opportunity to price match, made it pay and never looked back.
Good luck.
I jumped in head first to the commercial market when I first started up, as I was a one man band with the occasional casual worker with all the gear (scag & ride on), i could easily undercut the competition.
I really dont know what to say regards advice, ive found commercial is a rougher finish but lower price per SQM.
I write to alot of factors, businesses and factory owners to drum up regular work.
Regards price per SQM, I work on £80 per acre (4000 sqm) of grasscutting, which two experienced workers on 48" scags can nail in 30 mins.
shrub beds are priced at 50p per meter, per summer prune and winter.
spraying 4 times per year at £50 per spray
hope this helps
