I would calculate length x width x depth x 1.25 for tonne. So for example 1mx50mx0.08m=4 x1.25 =5 tonne.
Thanks for the reply mate.
So 8x7x0.08x1.25 =5.6 tonne so 6 tonne bags
or am I doing that wrong?
Also why is the tonne 1.25?
Just check with suppliers how much is in the bulk bags it's not always a tonne, must suppliers around are around 850kgs. That looks right calculation, be interested to see other members comments. Thanks Mark
that is the weight of 1m3 of stone, builders/ bulk bags only carry about .75m3 due to the load weight of 1 tonne per bag
50 m square would be 5 bulk bags at 2 inches depth.
0r 4 tonne loose at 2 inches.
Rule of thumb is around 1 bulk bag per 10m2.
That saying it’s dependant on what your are lying ie pebbles will not have as thorough a coverage as say a 10 or 20mm gravel.
Good point. 1 bulk bag Plum slate paddlestones only covered 5m2.
For every 12m you need 1 tonne at 2 inch depth. A builders bag only holds 850kg so adjust accordingly
