Stihl MS150TCE

Has anyone used one of the new MS150t top handle saws? I was thinking of getting one as a back up for my MS200. Its very lightweight and looks like it might come in handy for working in tight spaces or topping conifers.

Hi Chris, I brought one in February this year as they had just came out, was looking for a lightweight topping saw with plenty of power, it's great so far light and very well balanced...
  • whats it like at cutting hardwood? does it handle thicker branches, say 8"+?

To be honest I've cut nothing over 6 inch with it but was fine,
Mainly use for topping large conifers, Prob,s best get some reviews on arb talk...
  • Im only considering it as a back up saw to my MS200 so don't really want to spend £540 on the T540xp and the nearest husky dealer is about 10 miles away whereas the stihl dealer where I get 99% of my gear from is just round the corner.

The 150 is fine for small pruning jobs and is a joy to have on the harness as its so light. However if you are going to be cutting over 6 inch diameter I wouldn't bother so it struggles, much better to yell for your 020 than use the 150 as it is underpowered for larger diameter cutting. It is what it is, a small lightweight saw for reduction and thinning work, not for chogging on larger timber. Used one on a lime reduction the other day, sailed through the wood nicely by then the largest cuts were around 4 - 5 inch and lime is very soft. Have you looked at the new husky top handle?
