Are you sure it’s a 4mix ? Unless they’ve intro’d a new model I am sure they are all 2mix.
Common problems we have had;
-loose / broken exhausts
-loose magneto bolts ( I think !)
- and if it has shredder blades fitted ( think the 86s do), debris stuck around the blades/fan if been used as a vacuum.
They do make a ding-de-ding noise like a Puch Maxi moped tho which is hugely different from a 4mix....
I just assumed 4 mix but you are right :) The exhaust is tight but the only thing that makes the ping is if you tap the exhaust with something metal - like a screwdriver. It sounds like a baffle rattling.
I bought a new BG86 about a year ago and I queried with the shop about the "ping" sound as I didn't think my previous one ever did that. Was assured it was normal and funnily enough, the sound has gone now. My other bg86...... something has come adrift in the silencer.... a baffle?..... when I shake it,I can hear it rattle but the blo0wer works fine so leaving well alone.
Glad it's not just me :)
I took the exhaust off & ran the engine - no ping.
I checked the silencer for anything loose inside or rattling, refitted it & ping.
So it appears to be caused by the design of the silencer.
Maybe just needs to ‘coke’ up unless there’s s spark arrester screen in there that’s loose to begin with ....
From what I have seen the US ones have a screw in exhaust pipe with a hex nut & the arrester is on the back of the pipe.
The UK models, well mine anyway, doesn't have this so I guess that there isn't an arrester.
