Sthil HsA25

Hi All,

Has anyone any experience with the handheld HSA25??. I am thinking about using it to cut back grasses and perennials after the winter. Working alone sometimes it can be cumbersome, with grasses especially. Any feedback on battery life etc would be appreciated.

Paul

  • Lovely little tool.  Bought one last year. Excellent for light summer trimming and invaluable for trimming back lavender, tidying grasses and as you say perenials. I bought an extra battery but to be honest, I didn't really need to.  If you do buy one Paul, make sure you always wear a very stout glove on your other hand!!  As careful as I am, I nipped mine a few weeks ago!

  • Battery is good, I tend to use it for small fiddly stuff or when working very close to cables/wire/windows. As Colin said good for soft stuff, anything woody and it jams. When it comes to shaping anything larger than a about 2t x 2ft then I just got for a petrol hedge cutter.

    Would I buy it again....yes.

Yes I got one based on other reccomendations on here and other members (there was a thread at the time https://landscapejuicenetwork.com/BOG/new-client-new-problem ). Good for the small trimming, lavender, nepeta etc

I never got a 2nd battery but was going to but have never needed one yet so probably wont bother. Storage case is redundant as i keep the grass trimmer attachment in another case and was going to make a wooden mount to hang the unit and main trimmer in the van on  the wall (another member gave me that idea!)

  • Thanks fellas,

It seems like a resounding yes based on my questions. I'll bear that advice in mind regarding the thick glove Dave, I could see how it could easily happen.

    Thanks alot

As above excellent for grasses and perenials -- i tend to zip back and forwards with it top to bottom on grasses and it does a reasonable semi mulch that can be left on borders -- battery life is ok but no indicator -- so it runs out suddenly, so id get a second battery if you think it will have a fair amount of use.

      • Hi Dan,

I expect to be very busy with it to be honest, especially with perennial grasses next spring..and if I can charge it off the clients supply ,even better!!

        Thanks

        • Think I paid about £100 for mine plus around £40 for a spare battery,
