Did you ask if she'd kept it watered?

I wouldn't have ever, ever left it that long.
It's good customer relations (and you sleep easy at night knowing your work is good) if you make the time to ensure your instructions are followed.
Sorry, no sympathy here. By all means shoot me down in flames.
(And at the end of the day your T&C's will have covered this eventuality anyway).
Cheers, Eugene
my customers all get a three page sheet explain what to do with looking after a new one. does annoy me, but if they want to throw away money

I think you are being a bit harsh there lol!! I like to give customers the credit of a bit of commonsense. Mark did give clear instructions and I doubt if many people would "check" on it in less than 6 days. Hopefully, a good drenching will perk things up and all will not be lost.

Really interesting point there, Eugene.
You do a one-off job like turfing, how many times would you go back in the first 6 days to make sure it was being watered properly?
With the mini-heatwave we had last week down here, I'd have said it needed the sprinkler on all night for new turf, but I'd probably have left it a week before doing a follow-up.
I'm really anal about the finished job. I always schedule in a second weed treatment, or a follow-up visit to see if a planting scheme has worked or needs "tweaking". I honestly don't think I've ever checked a turfing job in under a week, though, unless I was working next door!
I suppose a way of doing it would be to put a 'free grass cut' in with your turfing job.
