Slopey sites

Have 2 new sites to price up very slopey under pine trees, was thinking of best method any help, thinking of flymo but worried about the odd Pine cone cracking the bases.Any clues please of other methods ???Another issue is lights in the lawn. Trouble is the extra time involved with flymo when having to pick up clippings. There is no irrigation which is good, developer wants it cut once a fortnight, the finish needs to be good, properties worth 7 million each, just struggling with pricing it up, or is it one to avoid ??

  • Does it have to be cut and collect?
    • Not sure yet
    • The properties are 7 million each so has to be a good finish
  • Sorry just noticed that, reading too quickly

Do you have pictures of the areas? I seen slope and thought ferris/scag/Great Dane but that's no use for anything like that

    What sort of angles?
  • I carry a beat up Viking 6 series for my sloping jobs probably around 40 degree slopes.  The mowers wrecked but it starts and goes... Was using a Stihl FS460 to strim them and was able to get a good finish but kept getting sprayed with dog shit, that's not happening again.  Really comes down to the angles

Flymo way to slow,  good boots a must if there steep so you dont take a tumble

  • The traditional way to cut slopes is a flymo & a rope.  However now H&S may impose restrictions.   Two stroke mowers are the best because you don't have to worry about oil starvation.  I used to cut slopes with a strimmer & then blow the grass down the slope.  You can collect by raking or running a mower over the clippings.

The absolute essential is spiked/studded boots. I have used cricket boots & I have also used screw in spikes in safety boots.

  • Get yourself a set of ice crampons very cheap from eBay and are lifesavers when strimming or mowing slopes
