Slippy moss on timber deck

I have a client, who has bought a house where the decking was fitted upside down. The planks being fitted grove side down, the smooth surface up. She has three children, moss has colonized the area and decking is slippery.

She hasn't the money/inclination to replace, wiring the area would look hideous, she has power washed but it has come straight back. What are the best chemical preparations to kill the moss on timber, please? Anyone had experience of Wet and forget?

thanks

My suggestion and vote would be to use  MMC Pro

Or Algoclear Pro (same active ingredient) which is sold by progreen.co.uk.

        good choice Nick!!

Algoclear or Algoclear PRO - binds to the lignin in the wood so offers some residual protection as well for a while afterwards

All decking is double sided, there is no wrong way up.  Groove side does not prevent algae / slime / moss build up as we witnessed first hand in clients gardens.  The key, is to ensure a 'fall' so moisture doesn't 'stand'3314745405?profile=original3314745229?profile=originalWe cleaned this, the best we could, bit it had dips in it and no 'fall', it was quite a hazard for slipping and the only way in & out of the garden.

    • Agree re 'right/wrong way up' Geoffrey. We scrub with MMC Pro.  Pressure washing can damage the timber and make it splinter. We have a customer who had theirs laid 'flat side up' and simply lightly sanded it every year and it always looked great.

The gaps are far too tight on the one above by the way!

      • Hi Colin, thanks for reply, the sanding idea is interesting.

This was of our early 'jungle' clearances, we couldn't even see the 'garden'.  Who laid the decking, an idiot, it filled the entire width of the garden.  There was no provision for drainage, the boards handily sloped towards the house, doh!  Although they were laid at right angles to it.

3314747275?profile=original3314748213?profile=originalThis was our initial view of the garden, machete anyone?

As an  aside, do you think this would work for advertising,
