Yeah get these a lot also, gets filed in the deleted bin. Ask yourself how did they find me ?? I got cold called from one a few weeks back and asked him the above question, couldnt give me a good answer. They said they found me on page 5 of google for landscaper in Edinburgh. I told him to search under what my business ACTUALLY DOES, grounds and landscape maintenance. After a few rattles on his keyboard and a few er um oh ah and ok's the phone went dead. " That will be because Im in the top three listings on page 1 of Google then mate ......eh !!!!!!, and all done by myself".
Cold calling con merchants.
Got to agree with Brian's last sentance....
Nothing that can't be done with a little know how and time spent on it. They can't offer you anything you can't do yourself.
Google has lots of online advise ALL FREE on how to get yourself up the rankings... Have a look there in the first instance.

Agust, I'm sure we could you teach you some naughty English words that would leave no uncertainty :-)
Pmsl....Seems like to me you have a good grasp of the required language...
What I like best about the SEO people, is that they always declare that your site is hard to find with a 'search engine' but yet somehow they found it?!
I got this in the email other day, again I think the lack of effort to introduce themselves, any explanation as to why you have been selected to receive their email and certainly no attempt to say, 'Dear Mr King, We thought you might be ....' indicates why I will never be interested. Doh!
Anything unsolicted, maybe legit, but if it contains links, don't click on them instead 'Google any xyz details' to see if they are
not been reported as scam before
find out more about them
I wonder how many fools fall for this stuff?
Is this not a different issue than 'scam' emails offering typically unrealistic expectations?
The garden businesses mailshot is targeted to business sector (so they've got that right ?) is a documented business, land-line phone number, address are clearly displayed, it confirms to DMA guideline (ie option to unsubscribe and business details shown) and is searchable on web. Finally it tells you where your details where obtained from. It may be a good or bad example of email marketing (depending on viewpoint) but remember your email details (without your full name ) are available from many sources.
Maybe a scatter gun approach, but sometimes they generate contacts.
While many may dislike this 'inbound' style of marketing, they are often quite happy to engage in the 'outbound' marketing version themselves (like unsolicited flyer drops etc).
It's of interest to me, so I have made contact. If it turns out to be a scam or illegal I will sure let you know...
I contacted a SEO firm about a year ago to find out a price to SEO my websites and they came back with a figure of £500 + VAT per month per website, think we must be in the wrong game although I think the outdoors life suits me more!
