Seen it all now!

It must be the silly season! Driving five miles back from a job yesterday I saw -

1) council guys strimming without their ear defenders or eye protection, well it was a warm day.

2) local farmer standing in raised tractor bucket using a hedge trimmer at full reach, whilst his mate mved him along the hedge.

3) Pensioner using a flame gun to kill weeds on narrow town centre pavement as people walked past, melting shoes, pram wheels etc!

Am I taking H&S too seriously?!

  • Only have a problem with  H&S when somebody does something that could harm others, as in No 1.

If the farmer falls out of his bucket, that's his look out. As for the pensioner, sounds like his nurse isn't aware he's out of bed!

  • very funny but true I think if everything is put in black and white people loose all commonsense and are not able to think for their self.

  • If you watch closely you'll see this all the time... BCTV kids left to do work for the council swinging strimmers like swords while wearing trainers, Mondeo men Gardeners Lifting mowers in and out of the boot of their cars,  (how their spines cope I dont know), and just the other week on me allotments - Someone holding a Ryobi (yep Ryobi) chainsaw ABOVE THEIR HEAD to cut a branch off a tree..... with no PPE.

Even when theirs danger to no one else but the operator, these people should not be allowed near any tools... someone has to clean up after they hurt themselves, and its the NHS and our taxes that pay for it.

  • It's only gardening after all and anyone can do it, cant they? Why else would you be able to buy chainsaws and other potentially maiming machines etc off the shelf from B & Q?!

Must admit I wince daily at what we see.  One of the Council gangs locally roll up with a lovely new crewcab transit + trailer c/with two Kubota ride ons and procede to cut the verges(and the occasional kerb!), big, medium, small, tiny and tiny- tiny.  The smaller ones, as they do, have become mounds - never mind the Kubota can cope with anything, over we go - bbbzzzztttt - duck!

  • Lol - Farmer in bucket - Classic!
