June is a good month to wrap it up
normally towards end of may we stop and after that offer clients verti cutting or power brushing if theres not a drought this carrys through to autumn back to scarifying
Told them they need to water if we have a dry spell as it could take up to
5 weeks to recover, got caught out a couple of years ago spring was very dry
Lots of customers complaining about there lawns as it was a very slow recovery
Process, tell them straight if they insist, about recovery stage just to cover
Your self.
Robbie / Rich you've got me all in a quandary now! I've been firmly in Mark Thomas's camp in recent years and have also been caught out by early dry weather and lawns not recovering properly.
I would love to keep scarifying right through May.
What do you recommend? Advise customers to water? Only scarify lightly? Or am i missing something?
I'm based in Northern Ireland and it's usually damp right up until June, there is also a risk of frost until the start of May so it's prudent here at least not to scarify/overseed to early. Maybe further south the temps/environment are slightly different...
I have found clients to be willing to water their lawn if we hit a dry spell in May after I do work on it.
Weather depending my scarifying season is usually mid march to the end of May / Late August - mid October.
