Scag on the back of tipper

Hi everyoneI currently have a 48" Scag tiger cub which I use on a large school contract I have, I also keep my container there with all my gear inThe time has come to get a new van, I'm looking now for some sort of tipper with ramp etc to take the Scag out to new contracts starting this seasonI'm trying my best to not go down the trailer route at the minute as I haven't got a trailer/licenceBeen trying to find out height of certain vans, length of ramps needed so mower won't bottom out etc etc etc and I'm at a dead endAny help appreciated :)

  • You can easily drive a scag up on it's back wheels and trundle it along the ramps like that so don't worry at all about bottoming out. As long as the ramps are long enough to be a safe gradient to walk up.

    • Hi,
Not sure if i explained wrong or u miss read what I put, but the Scag is a ride on so would need to be safe to ride up not walk
      Cheers

As long as the ramps are long enough like Dan said and a suitable weight rating for it then it will be fine. Although 48inch (depending on how much overhand there is outside of just the cut width) will fit in several large vans.

  • Could you not get a 750kg trailer then you can tow on your existing licence. Depending on the weight of the scag, and size, an ifor Williams p6 trailer can take a payload of about 580 kg.

      I would estimate around 450-480kgs

      • You can pick a 2nd hand, but still good condition Ifor Williams p6 or p7 trailer with ramp for about £800, good solid trailers.

Personally a beaver tail might be good? But depends on the work you will be doing. Purely for the ride on it would be fantastic

I think a van would be better than a tipper as the bed is high on tippers!
I don't think I would fancy driving that up into a tipper.
I've got a flatbed with loading ramp for my ride on mowers.
    I'm on a pre 97 licence though
  • I can get my scag walk behinds up on to a tipper but I wouldn't chance doing it with a scag ride on. I know if it all goes pear shaped with the walk behind I can step back out the way but a ride on would be tricky!
