Rosa Banksiae

Hi All,

Anyone have any experience growing this rose? Is it hardy?

I've had a few customers ask us to stock this rose just lately and I've always thought of it as on the tender side.

Thanks

Rachel

  • My mother has one growing on the side of her house, and it is really lovely - I dont recall her saying that it is prone to frost, though as the flowers are early, it is possible they get nipped in the same way that wisteria can be.
  • thanks Sarah, they do look stunning in the photos so its lovely to hear that they are as lovely for real.

  • Thanks Paul.

On most of the websites I have looked on including  BBC gardening they are listed as half hardy  and couple of my suppliers list it as a conservatory plant.  I'd always though of them as needing some protection so it is great to hear that they are doing well in gardens you tend.
