Rolawn say turf prices to rise

Rowlawn recently announced that turf prices will rise due to increased delivery and material costs.

Have Rolawn made this statement without consultation with the wider turf suppliers? A touch or mindset management perhaps?

There are many more quality turf suppliers than just ten years ago, for example. Can landscapers and gardeners purchase quality turf without paying surcharges or will other turf growers/suppliers follow and have to raise prices too?

  • Just recently i was shopping around for prices on approx 300sqmtrs of good turf and Rolawn were the most expensive already!

I check their prices every so often when i have larger turfing jobs to do and because of price i havnt used them for over two years

It looks as though Q Lawns will be resisting any price rises:

"Chris Carr,Sales and Marketing Manager at Q Lawns has confirmed that the Norfolk based turf grower will be keeping their prices as low as possible for as long as possible."

  • I agree with Anthony - I always find Rolawn to be too expensive - but we should all look to see if there's a trend here with other suppliers

I find that Rowlawn is the best turf in my area and is only 10 pence a roll more expensive than the cheaper turf...

why even lay the cheaper grades when the price difference is not worth talking about !!

  • When ever i have seen Rolawn turf for sale at a garden centre it doesnt look any better than the cheaper stuff i buy locally, obviously turf delivered direct to the job will be better but not sufficient enough for me to pay the premium Rolawn are charging!

I buy off a local Rowlawn supplier who gets it daily in the spring-summer months and to order , normally next day delivery the rest of the year and i never have any issues with it in both quality and the price

don't get me going about issues with Q lawn

  • As  the 'QLawns' turf man in the midlands I am ready to talk to any of you regarding  competitive prices for very good turf .  Let me prove to you that quality, service and fresh product are all key words in  my business and I can get  turf to most sites in the UK , usually within 24hours.

you don't need to as I would not have it anywhere near any of my jobs again

when it arrives steaming on the pallet and starting to decompose and its suppose to of been cut the previous day and brought up over night on a Q lawn wagon you can stuff it where the sun does not shine........

  • I have found that recently (over the last six months or so) the quality of Rolawn hasn't been up to its normal high standard and would use Q-Lawns or Inturf depending upon the clients requirements and pricing.  Both of which are very competitively priced.  In fact I used Q-Lawns for my own lawn and they delivered on a bank holiday and had to cart the turf up an unmade road / dirt track whilst the lorry parked on the main road holding up the traffic - excellent service.

Bottom line the price difference between brands are not a major consideration, quality of product and service is.

  • Mick, I  am sorry that you have had a bad experience and I have no knowledge of your particular incident  but  generally any quality issues (and they will occur with all turf suppliers from time to time)  with my customers are identified rapidly and resolved a.s.a.p.
