Hello. I thought I might be able to give something back on this forum as so many people seem to find time to offer great advice on all sorts of things.

I just had a very competitive quote for business insurance from Arborisk (part of Bartlett). Although they specialise in arborist work, they also provide cover for people/businesses doing garden maintenance and landscaping. They were recommended to me by someone I know who does landscaping and tree work.

I dealt with Scott Markham, who said he is happy for me to give his name to anyone who might be interested. Scott was very helpful and as I said, got me a very competitive quote.

  • How much was the quote ??
  • whats your cover and were they as good as simplybusiness.co.uk?

  • Cover is £5 million public liability, £10K tools and equipment, plus some personal accident cover. That includes chainsaw work on the ground - I have the tickets for medium felling and cross cutting. Equipment cover includes my trailer, which Simply Business said they couldn't cover so I would have had to get separately. All equipment is covered for storage and transit, given that the usual standard requirements are met.

There's an option of interest free instalments.

My quotes from Simply Business were higher and didn't offer the same cover. I don't want to do Simply Business down as I know plenty of people have had very good quotes from them and are happy with them. It just happened that Arborisk managed to tick my boxes at a significantly better price.

I'm not sure what the general consensus/rule is about stating the actual premium cost, but I can if it's ok to do it on the forum.

  • same experience , I went on the web site and the next week had several calls I spoke to a guy and asked if he could call me back later as I was busy was told they'd call back but they never did. I called back and also got that message.

In my experience of trying to arrange a quote from Simply Business, they were an absolute nightmare.
I initially went on their website and got some quotes and for the following week I was bombarded with calls whereby I would answer the call and they would simply hang up. I kept calling the number back and always received a recorded message saying they were busy with other clients.
Why call me in the first place if they're just going to hang up, don't they want my business, needless to say I've gone elsewhere and got a far better deal/service
