Thanks Nick, i've just been looking at the MS181, what price did you pick yours up for? did you go for the 14" or 16" bar?.
How much wood will you be cutting?
it was about £200 with 16" bar.

I would just get a used saw of better quality, might as well enjoy cutting up the firewood!
Cheers Chris, that one should do the job!. I already have the use of a ms260 with 18" bar, great saw but don't really want to cash out that much for one plus it's prob a little big for what I need. It's a bit hard to quantify how much i'll be using the saw but it probably falls into the medium use category.
Think i'll take a trip to my local stihl dealer and have a look at the MS181, I no you can get some great second hand bargains, do you have any examples or anything to look out for Dan?.
Not sure why you want a second saw when you have a 260? can't you just use that? I bought Paul's Husqy 357 and it's great, does an easy job and sounds nice too.
The 260 isn't mine, I just have the use of it from my old work place, which is o.k up until the point they need to use it.
Something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HUSQVARNA-346xp-PETROL-CHAINSAW-HUSQVRNA-...
Cheers Dan, think i'm going to look for the best deal I can on a new ms181.
