Pond Bog

I started to work on what had been a butyl lined pond removing the liner and old plants to make a bog garden. The soil is clay. Compacted after years of cover. The rains came and the dip that was the pond has returned to being a pond that does eventually drain away.It has remained flooded for weeks and whilst wanting to work with this phenomenon I am wondering if you might advise on plants that thrive in water and will survive when it drains and becomes a bog. Thanks in advance, Richard
