Planning permission for patios

Hi everyone,Fairly new to LJN as a full member ( great resource btw). I have been lucky that all of my patio and hard surfacing work has been PP exempt due to suitable beds/ lawns to direct the run off. Recently I have had a couple of potential jobs where this won't be possible eg small front gardens leading into the street. Nobody else seems to mention PP at site visits. I know the regs ( to some extent), but do people actually stick to them? If so how do people deal with run off in small front gardens which are too close to the house for a 'French drain'.Thanks.
