Pesticide advice

I'm in to my second year formally applying pesticides in residential and commercial settings.I had been using Dicophar as a selective treatment on lawns throughout last year, though have not been entirely impressed with it and in fact it seems less effective than the granular product I used to buy from B&Q. As such my question is what product do people use/recommend for selective treatment of lawns? My second question is what pesticide products do people generally use for feed, weed and moss control across the year, as I need to get organised and step up this service but have not had confidence in the products I stock. For reference I use Roundup Pro Bio for total kill and Maxicrop moss killer/tonic. Thanks for any input/advice. Andrew

Hi Andrew, Nice to have a chat...hopefully some reassurance and we are always here if you need any more advice.

  • Yes sorry, I should clarify the Roundup and the Maxicrop have been 'spot on' but I had been wondering what else was out there and what people used in terms of the routine/scheduled treatment of lawns over the year.

Thanks for taking the time to ring me Richard and for the useful advice you passed on!

    Andrew,

some weeds are more susceptible to different active ingredients than others. Dicophar will have it's list of weeds that it's very effective against and there will be others that it's not so. Also some are better temperature wise early season, others are better re rainfast times etc. The key is to identify the main weed you're targeting on a particular lawn and apply the appropriate selective herbicide for that case. Follow up later on with another weed control of a different type, but targeted,  to mop up any remaining weeds.

If you use the same weed control on all lawns all season, you'll get variable results, as there is not one size fits all.
