how long did it go for before you had to replace motors and how much did it cost to do so
Thanks for the update Stuart, Great to hear they're still going strong !
Yep, I'm almost 2 years in, no major with the tools or the poly 5 battery. I was successful in attaining a business grant at the time which enabled me to afford them. The hedge trimmers seem to be louder than when I first got them - it happened after I disassembled the blades to remove something that was stuck - think it's to do with the cutters as it's not the motor - any ideas Stuart? The oil doesn't seem to come through properly on the chainsaws but I just add more oil directly onto the chain. If they didn't have cables and were even lighter they would be perfect, but that would require a step change in battery tech. Not having to breathe in emissions and suffer from the petrol fumes is priceless.
Motor failed about a year ago. The new ones are different and they will not exhibit the fault that led to mine destroying itself. Cant remember the cost now.
The increased chatter from the blades could be something to do with a burr on the blade where the object got trapped. Usually mine get noisier when I need to add more grease to the gear box. Keep up with that and oiling the blades and you wont go far wrong.
I have never had any problems with the chain oil in the top handle saw but I once had to take my pole saw apart to see why oil was not getting to the chain. The pump was not working properly but I managed to fix it. It is a long way for the oil to go from the bottom to the top. Also make sure there is no crap in the hole where it exits and goes in to the bar.

Thanks Stu, will look at the trimmers this weekend. If the case of a burr, would one file it smooth? Re. grease - any type of grease? Do you use any specific cleaner to help with removing sap build up on the blades? Will also look at the hole on the saw. Why was the pump not working on the pole saw?
Andrew
I take it you have to charge these every night? Does a battery last a full day one person with blower, hedge trimmer, strimmers on the go?
*Forget it, is it really close to a grand PER unit? Plus £1300-1400 for the battery?
It took account of 5 year life costs on both sides and was a very close match. What could not be assessed was environmental and personal health / comfort factors as these were somewhat subjective, but on personal health grounds alone (vibration & fumes) it was good.
As they've been out it the industry for sufficient time it interesting to hear how they have performed.
As an aside, one thing I've noted when using battery gear is how much the actual blade/line or fan generates noise.
What's needed now is a rethink on design of blades or new ways of cutting vegetation .....
