New lawn for a customer

I have been asked to remove an old lawn and replace it with a new lawn. Obviously will need top soil, turf cutter/ rotivator, turf etc.The area is about 200sq metre`s.How long would it take some of you and roughly how much would you charge?Just making sure my prices are correct and that i am working hard enough!!!!

dig a test hole in middle to check rubble under soil !!

400 for turf delivered? top soil dressing? 4 -tonne if required £100 is............

  • All down to what you can purchase your turf and topsoil for and your daily labour rate?

Allowing for 5% extra on turf you will need 210 of 1m2 rolls
    5 - 6 bags of topsoil
    Lawn establishment fertiliser
    Waste away disposal charges
    Hire of any equipment
Labour - suggest 2 days for 2 men
Return inspection visit and 1st mow
    Plus 25% profit

As Robin has said in the region of £2K plus VAT (if applicable) or if doing it on a buget £1,500 Plus VAT - All down to how much prep work is required etc. and how quick you can work!
  • i was thinking 6 but , depends on quality underneath, and levels with new turf on, and how much rubble out ?

what part of the world is it ?

what is access like ? / delivery

back garden could take twice as long !!
  • That's the problem with trying to give a ballpark estimate without having seen the job and taking all the factors into consideration.

Why does it require so much / little top soil, how much old soil are you planning in excavation away? Would it need rotovating?

As a very crude rule of thumb, turfing companies would charge retail price to the client plus that again for labour plus any additional charges for waste, soil and additional prep work. Using this rule you will be able to guage how competitive you are.
  • That's true but having not seen it I'd say £2300 just in case. You'll know how much to take off that, or add on.
