  • I've a site where I have to go up/down 6 steps and I just use a fencing gravelboard plank.... that's a big enough pain. I would think that 4 or 5 laid end to end would do the trick. You'd need to put something heavy behind the bottom plank or the whole lot may all come sliding down. Perhaps you could even fit hinges between each of the planks...... should be quite easy..... this would keep them in place and when you've finished with them, you could just fold them up.

Get someone else to do it!!
On a serious note I have one that's similar and I have managed to store a really old mower in customers shed so I don't have the up and down everytime.
Other that that as Geoff said there is no easy answer I've found anyway!!
If you do come up with a good way let us know.
    Cheers Richard
  • I have one with a lot of steps too. I have ended up just edging my older mower down the steps on the back wheels. Only works if the mower has wheels, and the wheels stick out of the back of the mower slightly though. I'm tempted to play the 'too hard card' and dump it next year though.

  • I've got some real horrors, but just have to bump the mower up and down.  Dont want to leave the cutomers concerned in the lurch as theyre elderly, certainly easier to avoid in the first place or price to reflect the hassle and effort.

  • I had a customer in my first year running my business who had 30 steps down to her garden which took 10 minutes to mow and she couldn't understand why I charged her £20....... I dropped her in the winter that year as I she kept harking on about the fees. I said you might get someone cheaper but will they be reliable? She contacted me last year in July saying could I do get lawn as she has been let down. I said I would do a one off to get it back under control. I think I mowed get lawn two in three times afterwards last year but said I could not co it this year as it was too much to fit her in after a day work.
  • I just pick them up, even my 21" doesn't weight that much. Just squat, lift and walk
