Moving some Stipa gigantea ?

I have some plants on a steep dry chalky sunny bank that is being re-developed in mid September.

Some are too good to be simply ripped out with a digger and chucked away, the small ones I know can be dug out and put elsewhere around the garden but the Stipa, with their 8ft towering stems I have never moved before. Will they survive a move??, which simply has to be done next month, i few budledja  have already been binned and their main roots were all spread out as the the soil layer is so thin over the chalk...... I am hoping the stipa are the same....

It is possible that some smaller grasses and plants can be lifted and left carefully temporary in containers or sacks to await planting later on in the year

Thanks

I would have thought being the type of grass it is, if the seed heads are cut off and the remaining growth is cut cut back a wee bit it would worth risking moving them or even splitting them and putting in containers. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
