Moss, Algae killer advice...

Hi all, does anyone have experience of the following products.  Algon, MMC Pro, Wet & Forget?  A customer would like a block paved carpark spraying on a regular basis to prevent moss and algae growth.  I'm trying to establish which is the better performer, value for money, coverage etc. etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

    • Hi John I also have a customer who uses Wet & Forget and raves about it, although I doubt she has any experience of other similar products...

I have used mmc with good results and lasts for many months but the recently move to a product called sapphire from agrigem which is quite expensive but you use less so in the long run works out cheaper than the mmc due to dilution rate.

    • I'll take a look at Sapphire Dave, thanks for the info.

    Hi Adam,

We're main sponsors for LJN - have a look at our MAC Hi-Power - 40% strength quarternary ammonium - so stronger and more economical than the vast majority of these algae cleaners. they all have the same active ingredient but check the labels for strength of the active and in some cases you can't find an MSDS or ingredients info for these products...

MAC is in 1L or 5L sizes...for upto 1025m2 coverage per bottle.....really effective.

All these products need applying in right conditions and in proper quantities...

    • Thanks Richard, I'll take a look...

    • Mmc pro is excellent, but on advice from Richard at pro green I have started using mac hi power, I believe it is the same active ingredient just more concentrated and more cost effective. And its just as good.

      • Thanks for the info Glen, I will check this out.

    • Hi Richard, I've just ordered this, spoke to Spencer.  Many Thanks.

  • Biocides on flat surfaces tend to need reapplied every 6 months. Walls 12-24 months. I buy 50% DDAC in reasonable quantities and it works out fairly cost-effective.

Feel free to pop me a message dan@danfrazergardening.co.uk  I've used biocides for ten years now so have learned the ins and outs well enough to get me by.
