  • Not sure if you are missing something or not Phil, but since the Premium Membership started up the activity in the general forum has decreased considerably. I have not taken up the Premium option for the simple reason that I do not need it commercially - we gain ample work without any form of advertising or endorsment.

I have enjoyed 'talking' with like minded souls, but I fear that the 'two tiered' forum we now have is not what a 'forum' should be - maybe this is a good opportunity for the Premium members to 'sell' it to us?

  • PRO
i,like a lot, if not all members who took up the premium membership did it solely to help finance ljn. at the end of the day, running a website costs phil a lot of time and money, he, like all members of ljn, needs to earn living.
  • maybe people are just too busy to post ;)

premium or not, it doesn't make a lot of difference - premium can promote their business and use the hub, but that's about it as far as i;m aware......

certainly without some of the stalwarts like garyrk and maybe a dozen others, it would be too quiet to bother logging in, has ljn dropped below the critical mass a board like this needs to work?

  • i know people are busy, as i am but over the past few years of being on here there use to be between 20-30 people online at any one time, usually in the morning before work, this morning there was 3

  • Tony, that's complete rubbish. There is nearly no activity on the "members only" area, so I actually really resent being accused of being somehow elitist just because I chose to pay to support the forum, rather than treat it as a free resource at someone else's expense....

As I said recently, most of the old faces from this site have moved on to another one that doesn't have an up-front fee for a member's area that has no activity. As I predicted, and I did raise a post about this last week that got no replies. I won't be renewing, and although I hope LJN continues it does seem that the fees have caused a lot of people to move on. If you're not on the "new" alternative, then you're missing out.

The paid membership has failed, IMO. We still get the adverts, we have no real benefit from a closed forum as most discussions aren't started there, and there's no real benefit I can see. Whilst I don't dispute the fact that people need to earn a living, I think you have to accept that forums have to compete, and it should be the paid ads that fund it, not membership fees. If people think there's a whole world of excitement going on in a paid-for group then they are sadly mistaken.

Yes Phil there is something missing ,a lot of the paid up members, they are hiding behind the paid up wall and don't wont to talk to us mere mortals, the topics have slowed considerably and like Stu said a lot of posters have vanished there seems to be only Phil holding it up.

  • The pro members forum is quieter than the general one so don't worry you're not missing anything there.

  • hi ya tried to friend you but may be quicker to just email me, yewtreelandscapes@btinternet.com what is the new site most people have changed to, liked to have a bit of banter with a few of the members, special chriss auld he use to say it like it is

  • Not good so far - maybe the weekend will throw up more believers, but I think the forum needs to go back to the original format PDQ.

  • I completeley agree.
