  • i miss a load of calls as i do not hear the phone or i am driving at the time i ring them back as soon as i can

  • If they don't leave a message I don't call back.
  • If it's a mobile number, text them back... Apologise for missing their call, with a reason. I ask if it's an enquiry for services, please call again or text me and l will call you back. Has worked well in the past...

  • To be honest, it all depends on how busy I am at the time!

  • Me to Dan..if they are customers then i dont return call unless they leave a message. I have alot of cold calling from compenstaion firms and PPI lately so withheld i dont answer either

  • Yeah I totally rely on the answer phone, depending on how busy I am or how dodgy the customer sounds 90% of the time I will ring them back and do a quote...with held or blocked are a definatel no answer

    >>>with held or blocked are a definitely no answer

a lot of the time I will agree but its surprising how many calls I get what show on my phone as withheld number but are a genuine customer and I have got quite a few jobs from it too so just bare that in mind when your sat at home wondering why you cant full every week of the year in your diary

the junk calls I just stop dead in their tracks and thank them for calling but please remove me from your data base and never call me again and press end call - works for me

Would totally agree, Mick. We find some commercial clients call out through company switchboards and their numbers often get with held.

At least have a business like message on your answer phone or mobile, giving a service level 'we will call you back within x hours' etc, then people will know they will get an answer.

How you handle that first contact can dictate whether you get that 'opportunity' as it's about professionalism & business eqettiqiue.
  • Generally, I dont find that advertising/sales calls are not from withheld number any more, most are from commercial clients, eg. lettings agents so always answer them.

If no voice mail is left I just forget about it and don't bother returning call.
