  • In a lawn? I'd guess that mowing should knock them out if it's being cut weekly?

I've always used the old-fashioned "glove of death", when they are fully grown. A latex glove, with a fabric glove over the top soaked in glyphosate, stroking the weeds enough to break up the stems a bit and allow the chemical in. I also use this on bindweed, growing it up on sticks to get enough area to treat, as you need to have enough surface area to have an effect.

In a lawn, any chemical that will deal with a weed this tough will carry the risk of run-off, and cause more damage than it's worth IMO. Standard lawn treatments won't be great, as the plant has a small leaf area when it's cut low.

  • kurtail will kill it off quite nicely, but you'll have to returf afterwards.

Take a look at Robbie's thread lower down : http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/selective-weed-ki...

We were discussing the same on page 2/3 of the thread, so some useful information there - I know there is a lot more floating around on LJN about Horsetail etc..

  • hmmm, i assumed u meant horsetail - not the aquatic thing?
