Maintenance not enough hrs

I have just been asked to quote on a maintenance contract I spoke to the client the garden would need at least a day per week minimum preferably more they have come back to me saying can you start with 5 hrs per week also stating that sometimes he will cut the lawn and see how it goes would you still take on the contract ?

It depends on if the expectations of the client are in line with the number of hours put in!
  • Makes sense I suppose it's a starting point if the client sees the work we achieve they might increase hrs also gives us a chance to get to know the client better and vice a versa
  • I assume you must be charging by the hour on this? That's not a great way to win client confidence as they could always be wondering if you're trying to drag the work out.

I would have set a fixed price for a fixed job in the first instance.

If you NEED the work you might as well see how it goes. If not I would leave it.
  • Sort of I quoted £75 half a day and the client came back with 5 hrs
  • I do most of my maintenance contracts on a half day or full day rate
  • That should be on a full day rate then
  • How can I charge full day rate for 5 hrs
  • Full day is 8 hrs
  • You just said you either do a half or a full day rate. This kind of discussion with pricing may be best in the hub to avoid embarrassment etc when clients come across them on Google, in my opinion.
  • Ok
