As long as you keep to one manufacturer you will be fine.
From what I've seen manufacturers make their splined shafts differently so that most won't interchange...hardly surprising that one! what are you trying to achieve ?
Have a good engine unit of unknown origin, labelled M330 only, looking for something to put on the end of the shaft

If it isn't labelled with a brand such as Stihl, Echo, Husquvana etc. it's probably a Chinese cheapie. Likely to have very high vibrations and not last long.
Worth a trip to a dealer, I guess, in case something does fit it, but I'd be tempted not to invest too much money in tools for it.

Is it likely then that echo spares would fit?

I have a chinese clone engine, it does fit all echo PAS tool attachments - that said they rattle like hell.
They tend to all be exact copies of Early 2000's echo tools and have quite high vibrations. If you get cheap bits for it, wear it out, otherwise bin it.
