Lock up prices

I am looking to getting a new lock up (rent) to accommodate all tools and a trailer.I have outgrown the current one and am looking for one with proper security measures in place. What sort of prices do you think it would be? I saw a local garden company using one of the yellow storage units as a lock up. Again if anyone knows a rough price that would be great. With all the tool thefts now going on up and down the country I think security is so important now.

Ring the storage company up or look on there web site.
Farmers often offer similar options allot cheaper.

  • Thanks will check a local farm to me for prices. Good point the yellow storage will probably be quite expensive.

  • local nursery to me has a number of containers and leases at £50 per week - so £2.5k per annum
a non chain storage company near me quoted me £2k for a container and £1k for a piece of ground the same size located next to the container, per annum.

another chap had a right result, a garden centre let him have a container at £500 per year, although he no longer has it.

    Steve,

Farms are a good source of storage for Industries such as our, but many are informal affairs, cash-in-hand and as such you would be 'unable' to put tat cost through your books.

Security can also be an issue and would largely be down to yourselves. If you went that route I suggest you talk to your insurers to see the min requirements.

However, go look for estate farms, that often have estate/farm managers and are run on a more professional nature. Round our way, They tend to be the larger farms that have diversified from mainstream farming ( perhaps someone more knowledgeable can comment on these types of farms). We used one in the early days, but now have a small commercial unit & yard found via a commercial agent. Cost of these will always be an issue especially for 'us' on the boundaries of prime southern commuter land and the countryside.

I do remember it was more to do with putting the word around than looking online, in papers etc.
