Did any one read the news last week that Tru Green have decided to go after small-scale commercial lawn care contracts by recruiting more ex-groundsman/greenkeepers in 2010 following the appointment of the ex-Wembley groundsman - Steve Welch (he who was unfairly sacked following the state of wembly pitch for England matches).

They are looking to create an additional 100 franchises by 2015.

That must be good for the man at the top - all those franchise fees and royalties comming in.....

They cite a boost in 'enquiries' and and increasing number of out of work greenkeepers/groundsman as to the reason for this move.

They cynic in me wonders if the domestic lawn franchise space has reached saturation point and they are now looking to diversify before others beat them to it....

  • Unfortunately for them they never really made an impact that they hoped it would. Their Portsmouth branch was the first one to bring Tru Green to the UK which done really well mainly due to the lack of others in the area. I can't see them making any major inroads and considering Country Wide is going down hill as well.
  • I agree to what you say re country wide as a few of there top guys seemed to have moved over to ground control based in Essex.
