I've not come across anything like this before. It strikes me that you have little or no control over application rate. I could see loam-based dressing just pouring out, and damp compost not coming out at all. I'll stick with a shovel thanks.
They work well, numerous videos on YouTube
Why not use a lute?
We use Lutes, the use of of a spreader negates the need to use a Lute as the material is evenly distributed. With the shovel method it's not.
Speak to Dave Salt at Blade Machinery. They are long-standing UK Lawn Care Association Sponsors who import Bannerman machinery and top dressers from the Lanszie through to a powered machine.
Thanks Jack, appreciated.
We use a 24" Landzie and it works just great. Replacement latches are available, but we haven't needed any yet.
We use it predominantly for applying soil. It's perfect after scarification or renovation work when we blanket overseed and then apply a fine soil top dress (Westland 35ltr bags are ideal to work with). It retains all stones, lumps etc so only a fine dressing is applied.
It saves us hours and makes any job completed have a much more professional finish.
Initially we thought it pricey for what it is, but it paid for itself very quickly. No more back breaking "riddling" over patch repairs either.
Used in conjunction with a lute for levelling out minor lawn undulations it's even better.
Tom, thanks that's helpful. Have you put multi purpose compost through it? If so does it cope with it?
Hi Peter, Sorry we havent. It is sold as a compost spreader so I imagine it should work ok.
Hi Tom, sorry for a basic question but what are the logistics of filling the roller? Presumably take a barrow of soil to the roller, fill, roll, empty, repeat?
