Insurance for tools?

I am moving from a terraced house to a house with a double garage so I have room for all my tools, just wondering what to do about insurance....I just totted up the replacement value of my tools and it comes to around £5K.I am with Gladiator for van and Public Liability, but they only cover tools in the van up to £1K. I have a trailer worth £750 which I don't think is covered at all! What does everyone else do?

  • Similar situation re tools. Just signed up to NFU - my Tradesman Insurance with them covers Public Liability, subcontractors, tools (to £8k) in garage and van, working upto 6m height, plus a few odds and ends, £400. Seemed a bit steep (?) but cover seems comprehensive and thorough and they are flexible.
  • All sorted: Tools insurance online.....£126 for £5K tools including theft from vehicles! I think that is really good?
